In past years, we held the following types of meetups. Right now, we are approaching these on an as-needed basis, and also depending on the team’s comfort with travel, and our budget.
- Buffer Company Retreats: a 5-day company-wide event, all together in person for those who are able to attend. This consists of several company-wide sessions, some area-team breakout time, and some flexible free time to bond and enjoy the location. This is usually held in a larger city with a major airport, and each teammate has a hotel room to themselves.
- Team Meetups: A 3-to-5-day in-person gathering to collaborate, plan, and bond. This is held in a central-ish location that’s most convenient for the group, depending on the geographic spread of the team. These are often booked in an Airbnb to maximize convenience and collaboration logistics, but for larger teams a hotel might be more practical. These are usually scheduled by the area team based on a budget provided by Leadership and Finance.
