Buffer offers support to teammates with dependents through a support fund of $3,000 per year. This may also be referred to as the “Dependent Stipend.”

Who the Family Support Fund covers:

A “dependent” is anyone who depends on your income at Buffer exclusively (and does not have their own source of income.) Types of dependents can include:

• Partner: Spouse, significant other/domestic partner who is unemployed by choice or ability
• Children: Any children in your care under the age of 26
• Parents or Grandparents: Relatives you are financially supporting through long-term care or elder care
• Additional relatives/situations: on a case-by-case basis

If you’re unclear on how to define a “partner,” we’d like to default to this definition, used by our US teammates’ benefits provider:

• You’ve been living together for at least six months AND
• You share a utility bill

We won’t be asking to see your utility bill anytime, but this might provide a good guideline to use. Another way to think about it that maybe feels more Buffery:

• You have a HelloFresh subscription for two

• You share wifi passwords
