Taking time off and recharging is critical to doing your best work. Weâd love to help everyone on the team feel great about planning and taking restorative time away. Through Bufferâs Flexible Time Off Policy, teammates can take as much or as little time off as they want. There is no annual cap on paid flexible time off.
Vacation days (along with sick days and other types of leave) are not accrued. Please use your best judgement, and communicate with your team, about when and how to take time to step away from day-to-day work.
Time off details:
- Vacation time off is booked through Timetastic. Most types of time off require manager approval, but there are some exceptions. Time off days and type will be shared transparently in the #people-availability channel in Slack (but not the details you share when requesting; those are private with your manager and admins of Timetistic).
- We encourage team members to take a minimum of 3 weeks (12 work days) of vacation throughout the year, in addition to public and religious holidays.
- Vacation time is in addition to public and religious holidays that you observe, as well as Family leave. (Family leave is not vacation! đ
)
- Teammates receive regular pay for time off.
- If possible, try to limit time off during your first 90 days, as this will be the most intensive part of your onboarding. Of course, if you have a vacation already planned when you get hired, thatâs fine! Just make sure your manager and âbuddiesâ are aware. If itâs extended leave, discuss those on a case-by-case basis.
WHEN to share plans with your manager and team:
Please share plans in advance with your manager as soon as youâre able. Hereâs a general schedule of how much notice is good to give.
- For a half day or less, 1 week in advance
- For 1â3 days off, 2-3 weeks in advance
- For longer time off, a month or more in advance is great
(In situations where you arenât able to give advance notice, such as illness or emergencies, let your manager know as soon as possible so they can arrange coverage.)
