Who we are, and what we’re trying to achieve:

While we are quite diverse on the surface (we hail from many countries and backgrounds, and have a wide set of interests and skills), we are united by our commitment to shared values.

We are seeking to build a profitable and human-first company that serves customers extremely well while creating a culture that is a joy to be a part of and lets teammates do the best work of their careers.

We operate in some ways like a “startup,” in that we try to move quickly, learn fast, and pivot when needed (in the product as well as the company culture). We have “Lean methodology” in our DNA. But in other ways, we also strive to be a profitable and long-term company; we are not looking for a quick exit, and we hope to be around in 50 years.

What we’re best known for:

On the product side, we’re known for building a simple, affordable, and powerful set of tools around social media, specifically for creating and scheduling content, measuring success via analytics, and interacting with an engaged following. In recent years, we have added a lot to this, including the ability to easily create websites with Start Page.

Among our customer base, we are also known for excellent, fast, and very human customer service, provided by our large, global team of Customer Advocates.

In the greater community, we’re best known for our active blogs. We have one blog that provides interesting and valuable content for small business, and another that talks about the inner workings of Buffer. Relatedly, we are also known for our transparency. We have shared our metrics, our compensation formula and list of all current teammate salaries, and many other topics including successes and failures, for the better part of a decade. We share via our website, and our Open blog, as well as in media interviews and on social media.
