Caregiver Leave for Family and Loved Ones

Sometimes in life, we will need to care for loved ones who need dedicated support that requires our full-time attention. Teammates are encouraged to talk with their manager and the People team about their needs for remote work, flexible time, disability leave, eldercare leave and/or other support.

U.S. teammates may also qualify for FMLA in addition to any support Buffer may provide; learn more about qualifying circumstances here.

What to do when you want to take Caregiver Leave:

• Chat with your lead as soon as possible, and share with your teammates when you feel ready; at least 2 months before you’d like the leave to begin is ideal.
• Chat with the People Team - We’ll collaborate with your manager to confirm the time away and check any final pieces. (We’re open to individual cases and finding what is best for each situation!)
• As you plan your return, connect with your manager on the best timing and transition.
• Please book your caregiver Leave though Timetastic under Bereavement/Compassionate.
