US Employees: 401(k) Information
- Carrier: Human Interest
- Buffer will contribute 3% of your salary to your 401(k).
Getting Set Up:
When you first join Buffer, we’ll send you an invite to Human Interest. The invite will come to your personal email, so you still have access if you should leave Buffer. Please reach out to the Finance team if you need us to resend the invite to Human Interest to get your account set up.
Details:
- This is considered a non-elective contribution which means that we will contribute 3% of your salary even if you elect not to contribute to your 401(k) at this time.
- You can adjust your contribution anytime directly through Human Interest. If you elect to contribute more than 3%, Buffer still caps our contribution at 3%.
- If you are not currently contributing to your 401(k) you can start anytime!
- You’ll find full access to our 401(k) Summary Plan Description here.
- For 2024, the combined employer and employee contribution limit is now $69,000.
- Your Human Interest account will be tied to your personal email, not your Buffer email so be sure to check your personal email to set up this account!

✅
A friendly reminder: All contributions that you make to a traditional 401(k), up to $23,000 (for 2024) are made on a pre-tax basis which reduces your taxable income and will reduce the overall federal income taxes that you owe! If you'd like to contribute on a post-tax basis, please select the Roth 401(k) option when setting up your 401(k).
